Herbert Smith Freehills has strengthened its Disputes Practice in New York, with the hire of Partners Marc Gottridge and Lisa Fried.
The addition of Marc and Lisa will enable the firm to further bolster its successful global financial services practice.
Marc and Lisa join Herbert Smith Freehills from Hogan Lovells. Marc served as the global head of Hogan Lovells' financial services litigation practice. In addition to Lisa’s work as a partner in financial services litigation, she also served as the firm’s administrative partner for the New York office.
A seasoned litigator with over three decades of experience, Marc handles large scale cross-border and complex litigation and regulatory enforcement for international clients in the financial services industry. Marc has also played a leading role in internal investigations and investigations conducted by the United States Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and state regulators.
A highly-regarded litigator, Lisa represents some of the world's leading financial institutions and other global companies in complex commercial litigation, major class actions, and investigations. She frequently represents non-U.S. banks in cross-border matters and has particular experience in conflicts between U.S. and foreign laws. Lisa has represented major European banks in a range of civil litigation matters in the U.S., and has litigated numerous consumer-facing disputes for U.S. financial institutions.
Marc received an A.B., magna cum laude, from Columbia University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Lisa received a B.A. from Cornell University and a J.D. from Georgetown University.
