Miguel is a corporate lawyer specialised in the energy, oil & gas and infrastructure sectors.

He advises industrial clients and investment funds, foreign and Spanish, in multijurisdictional and complex transactions and projects related to the energy and infrastructure sectors, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial agreements and project development, with a particular focus on power, renewables, oil & gas and energy transition. He is a member of the Latin America and Africa groups of the firm.

In addition to his previous in-house experience in the energy sector, during 2015, Miguel was seconded to a multinational client in the oil & gas business.

Background

Miguel has a dual degree in Law and Business administration by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and postgraduate studies in International Maritime Law by Instituto Marítimo Español. He speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese. He is admitted in the Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid (ICAM – Madrid Bar Association).

Prior to joining the firm, he worked in the corporate practice of a leading Spanish law firm and has also in-house experience working for a multinational Spanish company in the energy business.

  • Energy Infrastructure Partners and Crédit Agricole Assurances on the €905 million acquisition of 25% Repsol Renovables, its renewables company, which includes offshore and onshore wind, photovoltaic, hydropower and geothermal assets
  • Interogo Holding, via its infrastructure investment fund Inter Infrastructure Capital (IIC), on the agreement to acquire 49% of a 1,066 MW portfolio of operational and under construction solar photovoltaic generation assets within the BRUC Energy group
  • Engie, together with Crédit Agricole Assurances, on the acquisition of up to 100% of the share capital of the Spanish company Eolia Renovables from Alberta Investment Management Corporation
  • Quercus Real Assets on the disposal of eleven 773MW photovoltaic greenfield plants located in Andalucía, Navarra and Aragón through an auction process
  • Renewable Power Capital on the incorporation of a joint venture with Taiga Mistral for the development of onshore wind projects in Poland
  • Sustainable Development Capital Energy Efficiency Income Trust (SEEIT) on the acquisition of a portfolio of nine cogeneration projects in Spain from Sacyr Industrial Renovables. The portfolio included five combined heat and power (CHP) plants, two olive processing plants and two biomass plants
  • Finerge on the acquisition of three greenfield wind projects located in Navarra, with a total installed power capacity of 63MW, from Alfanar Group
  • Sojitz Corporation on all legal aspects in relation to the acquisition and subsequent sale of an interest in Regasificadora del Noroeste (Reganosa), a company that receives, stores, regasify, and transports liquefied natural gas to companies in Spain
