The Government Response on the call for evidence on dismissal has been published and confirms that:
- the "no fault dismissal" idea floated in the Beecroft Report has been formally dropped;
- there will not be any major changes to the Acas Code on Discipline and Grievance. Acas has been asked to consider how performance and disciplinary procedures could be better distinguished and clarified. This may be done through changes to Acas's accompanying Guidance rather than the Code. Although the idea of a separate Code for small businesses has been dropped, an interactive tool for small business will be developed to help them apply the disciplinary and grievance processes.
